This website is owned and operated by BatteryTailor (referred to as "we", "us", or "our"). These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") set out the conditions under which you may use our website and services.

BatteryTailor provides an educational tool for personalised solar panel and home battery system recommendations based on user-provided property and energy information. Our service generates financial projections, system specifications, and downloadable PDF reports to help users make informed decisions about renewable energy systems.

By accessing or using BatteryTailor, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use our website or services.

2. Eligibility

2.1 Age Requirements

You must be at least 18 years of age and possess the legal authority to enter into these Terms as a binding agreement.

2.2 Geographic Restrictions

Our service is designed for users located in the United Kingdom. Solar irradiance data, energy pricing, and recommendations are based on UK-specific information. You may not use this website if doing so is prohibited under any law or regulation applicable to you.

2.3 Accurate Information

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when using our service, including property type, location (UK postcode), household size, energy usage, and budget.

3. Description of Services

3.1 What We Provide

BatteryTailor provides:

Personalised solar panel and battery storage recommendations
Financial projections including payback periods and return on investment
Four optimisation scenarios: Lowest Upfront Cost, Most Environmentally Friendly, Balanced Optimisation, and Max Solar + Storage
Downloadable PDF reports at £24.99 per report
Optional email delivery of PDF reports

3.2 What We Do NOT Provide

BatteryTailor is an educational tool only. We do not:

Sell, install, manufacture, or service solar panels, batteries, or EV chargers
Provide professional, financial, or technical advice
Act as licensed energy consultants, financial advisors, or certified installers
Guarantee any specific financial returns or system performance
Offer warranties on third-party products or installations

4. Pricing and Payment

4.1 Report Pricing

PDF reports are available at £7.99 per scenario and £24.99 for all four scenarios. All payments are processed securely via Stripe. Payment is required before a report is made available for download.

4.2 Price Changes

We reserve the right to change pricing at any time. Any price changes will be clearly displayed before payment is required.

4.3 Cooling-Off Period

By requesting immediate digital delivery at the point of purchase, you acknowledge that the 14-day cooling-off period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply to your purchase. You will confirm this explicitly before completing payment. Our Refund Policy applies instead.

5. Refunds

Our full Refund Policy is available separately on the website. In summary, refunds may be issued where there is a technical failure, service error, or data processing error on our part. Refunds are not available for change of mind, disagreement with estimates, or external factors outside our control.

Our maximum liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the report in question.

6. Modification of Services

We may, without prior notice, change or update the services we offer, stop providing any features, create limits on usage, or temporarily suspend access for maintenance. We may permanently terminate the service for any reason with or without notice.

7. Disclaimers and Warranties

BatteryTailor provides educational estimates and recommendations only. Our service does not constitute professional, financial, or technical advice. We are not licensed energy consultants, financial advisors, certified solar installers, or electrical engineers.

7.2 Verify All Information

Verify all calculations independently
Have your property assessed by qualified surveyors
Review current government incentives and regulations

7.3 No Warranties

BatteryTailor is provided "as is" without any warranties, express or implied. We make no guarantees regarding accuracy of recommendations, system performance, financial returns, payback periods, product compatibility, energy prices, or product availability.

7.4 Estimate Limitations

Our recommendations are estimates based on user-provided information, average UK solar irradiance data, current energy prices, manufacturer specifications, and industry-standard assumptions. Actual results may vary due to weather, installation quality, shading, usage patterns, equipment degradation, and changes in energy prices or government incentives.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by UK law, BatteryTailor and its operators are not liable for financial losses resulting from decisions based on our reports, installation issues, third-party product issues, regulatory or price changes, data inaccuracies, service interruptions, actual performance differing from projections, or any indirect, punitive, or consequential damages.

Our maximum liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the report in question.

9. Intellectual Property

All content, algorithms, and intellectual property on BatteryTailor are our exclusive property, protected by copyright and applicable law. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the service for personal, non-commercial purposes and to download and retain your individual PDF reports.

You may not reproduce, redistribute, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from our algorithms, calculation methods, or software, or use the service for commercial purposes without our written consent.

10. User Responsibilities

By using BatteryTailor, you agree to provide accurate information, use recommendations for informational purposes only, verify all calculations independently, consult qualified professionals before making purchases, and comply with all applicable laws. You may not use the service for unlawful purposes, upload harmful code, or attempt to circumvent security measures.

11. Third-Party Products and Services

BatteryTailor recommends products from third-party manufacturers. We do not sell, install, warranty, or service these products and have no liability for them. All purchases and installations are between you and the installer or retailer.

Where installer referral commissions are received, this will be disclosed clearly. Referral arrangements do not influence the independence of our optimisation recommendations.

12. Data Privacy

Your use of BatteryTailor is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. By using the service you agree to the terms of our Privacy Policy.

13. Account Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the service without notice if you violate these Terms, provide false information, engage in fraudulent or illegal activity, or abuse the service. Upon termination, your right to access the service ceases immediately and previously generated reports may no longer be accessible.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless BatteryTailor, its operators, and affiliates from any claims, losses, liabilities, or expenses arising from your use of the service, your violation of these Terms, or decisions you make based on our recommendations.

15. Promotional Communications

By providing your email address, you agree to receive PDF reports (if requested), service-related communications, and optional promotional messages about new features. You may opt out of promotional communications at any time by clicking unsubscribe in any email or contacting support@batterytailor.com. You cannot opt out of transactional service emails.

16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Before filing any legal action, you agree to contact us at support@batterytailor.com to attempt informal resolution, provide a detailed description of the dispute, and allow us 30 days to respond.

17. Miscellaneous

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and BatteryTailor. If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force. We are not liable for failure or delay in performance due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

18. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will update the effective date and may notify you by email or website notice. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
