BatteryTailor was built by a team of energy systems engineer who got frustrated watching homeowners get pressured into oversized solar installations. The algorithm evaluates thousands of combinations, panel sizes, battery capacities, tariff structures, and usage patterns, to find what actually works for your home. We don’t sell or install anything. We have no partnerships with manufacturers or installers. Your report is based purely on data and engineering.​

I built BatteryTailor because I saw a gap between what UK homeowners needed and what the solar industry was giving them. Most online calculators are lead generation tools for installers. They collect your details and sell them to three or four companies who call you within minutes. The “advice” is designed to sell the biggest system possible, not the right one.

Our backgrounds is in Electrical and energy systems engineering (MEng), with research focused specifically on domestic energy storage with PV and battery integration. BatteryTailor's algorithm is built on that foundation, it uses a multi-criteria optimisation approach that evaluates thousands of system combinations against multiple weighted fitness objectives, calibrated to current UK tariffs and grid constraints.
